Getting started
On first launch, tell Boardgrid how many runs, suites and cat condos you let. It generates the coded units and opens on the grid. Nothing else is required — there is no account and no sign-up.
Why is a night showing no price?
A night whose rate is missing from the rate card has no total rather than a total of zero, and the invoice refuses to charge until you price it. Open Settings → Rate card and fill in the weight band and room type it lands in. This is deliberate: a bill that quietly says zero is one nobody notices.
An animal needs to change rooms mid-stay
That is one booking, not two. Select the stay and use Move unit. Boardgrid offers only rooms that are genuinely free for those nights and that suit the animal — a cat is never offered a dog run — and keeps a single invoice, a single check-in and a single record.
Sync and backups
Your book syncs between your own devices through your iCloud account. If two devices edit while offline, the copy edited most recently wins — with one exception that matters: a freshly installed, never-set-up device can never overwrite a facility that has been set up, whatever the clocks say.
Backup and restore live in Settings → Manage backups, and are part of Pro. A backup carries the whole book, including any old stays that were moved out of the sync payload to keep it under Apple's size limit.
What Pro costs, and what is free
Free covers the whole operational product for up to 8 units: the grid, bookings, split stays, check-in, the invoice on screen, the compliance roll-up and the inspection pack.
Pro lifts the unit cap and adds backup and restore, the revenue and accountant export, and the invoice as a sendable PDF. Manage or cancel it in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.
The inspection pack is not behind the paywall and never will be. A licensed facility has to produce a register on demand, and a subscription lapsing is not a reason to fail an inspection.
Nothing leaves the device
Boardgrid has no server. See the privacy policy for what that means in practice.
